RBC Dexia, in conjunction with CREATE-Research, recently released the results of a survey that assessed the impact of UCITS on global fund distribution, based on feedback from senior executives at more than 100 leading fund management companies from around the world.

	‘Global fund distribution: Bridging new frontiers’ is the most extensive study conducted to date on the evolution of UCITS funds and the impact on fund manufacturers, distributors, administrators and the end client.
	UCITS promoters have long moved beyond selling funds strictly to retail investors within the European Union. As this report illustrates, UCITS funds are now widely distributed in regions such as Asia, Latin America and Africa. And they hold growing appeal to institutional investors.
	The report concludes that the introduction of UCITS is reshaping the global fund business. Increased competition and regulation are driving fund manufacturers to form alliances with distributors and administrators. This new environment is bringing about a new focus on the needs of the end-client.
